Developing a warehouse management system based on SAP LE-WM using an SAP Syclo mobile solution

With company warehouse operations going up every month (monthly number of operations is at 3,000, stock list is at 9,000 units) warehouse processes needed to be organized differently.

To optimize the warehouse processes, the company decided to automate such processes as material acceptance, transfer and issuing. The solution involved material barcoding and development of an application based on SAP Syclo for mobile data terminals.

When a material arrives at a warehouse it is marked with bar code label. After that, a stock keeper finds a place for the material at the warehouse using a mobile data terminal. A mobile data terminal is also used to relocate materials within a warehouse and issue materials to divisions. The advantage of the solution is that it can work offline. Therefore, a permanent Internet connection is not required when conducting any operations at the warehouse.

ITPS provided the following services:

  • Developed and implemented a warehouse management system based on SAP ERP
  • Developed an offline mobile application for warehouse accounting based on Syclo (application platform – WinMobile, but Android and iOS can also be used)
  • Trained users on-site to work in the system
  • Configured a module for printing material and storage location labels in SAP

Result

  • Creation of an effective automated warehouse accounting system
  • Significant reduction in the material receipt process
  • Reduction in warehouse operation errors
  • Increased accuracy of material location and quantity data at the warehouse
  • Reduction in the duration of warehouse operations

Commercial operation of the system started in 2014.
