Implementation of the SAP WMS Warehouse Management System at EVRAZ Nizhny Tagil Iron and Steel Works

Increasing inventory management efficiency at EVRAZ Nizhny Tagil Iron and Steel Works through the automation of accounting procedures for materials at the warehouse complex.

Project Objectives

  • Automation of acceptance processes, intra-warehouse movement and release of inventory items performed by employees of the warehouse complex of the company, including with the use of mobile data collection terminals.
  • Provision of detailed information on the state of the warehouse complex of the company in real time at storage locations.
  • Reduction of time for the execution of intra-warehouse transactions.
  • Increase in accounting process efficiency and inventory analysis at storage locations.
  • Reduction in the number of errors in intra-warehouse transactions.
  • Performance of inventory tracking with the use of automatic identification.

Result

The introduction of the Warehouse Management System in EVRAS Iron and Steel Works allowed qualitative changes in the processes of warehouse accounting to be acheived, which contributed to an increase in the efficiency of inventory management, in particular, to a reduction in the acceptance time of inventory items by 1.5 times, and the selection time of goods and materials by 3 times.
