ITPS Group, one of the leading end-to-end IT partners for major oil and gas and industrial companies, has developed its own tool for sizing IT infrastructure based on expected capacity growth. The sizing tool was developed as part of a project for a large Russian petrochemical company that has been working with foreign software, including ERP and HR management processes, and is migrating to Russian 1C-based solutions. The calculation methodology for 1C products is unique. It was developed by ITPS experts and has never been used before by either the vendor or integrators.
The project involved the migration of SAP ERP and HCM to a range of 1C-based IT systems. The implementation was designed for 4,000 employees, with up to 2,000 users working on the system simultaneously. The calculation was based on unique parameters for each customer, including the number of users.
The per-user values were calculated by analyzing a variety of data, including CPU resources used, RAM, etc. The calculation was then performed using an algorithm developed by ITPS experts. The customer's information security and data copy requirements are taken into account by the vendors used in the IT infrastructure.
The calculation was performed at an early stage of the project, when the current IT infrastructure was being assessed and the requirements for the future system were being defined. This reduced the cost of the transition to 1C and minimized the risk. The next step was to determine the required quantity of IT equipment with the specified characteristics needed to implement the project.
"The transition from foreign to domestic IT solutions is a complex process. As one of the leaders in the IT market, ITPS has unique experience, skills and resources for both SAP and 1C. The development of such a solution helps to significantly reduce the costs of migration, to build up capacities that allow to increase the load and to solve unforeseen tasks. The tool helps to plan the required amount of equipment and configuration in advance, thus saving time. Taken together, this allows us to reduce costs and risks to the business", - commented Dmitry Fedorochev, Director for Implementation and Development of Corporate Information Systems at ITPS.
