Modelling and Controlling. ITPS at the V Russian Oil and Gas IT Summit Digital Oilfield

“Digital management and data handling is the basis for the economic efficiency of oil and gas assets”. This was the slogan of the V Russian Oil and Gas IT Summit ‘Digital Oilfield’, which started on June 10 in Moscow. It is one-of-the-kind business event that brings together two significant segments of the Russian economy – oil and gas sector and IT. The event participants include strategic managers, technical and IT directors of the producing companies responsible for digitalization, development and implementation of innovations, and the top-managers of the leading IT companies. The goal of the event is to look together for the new hi-tech solutions in the area of oil and gas digitalization. IT Summit was held with support from the Russian Ministries of Energy and Industry and Trade, Russian Gas Society, associations of software developers and IT integrators RUSSOFT and APKIT.

The digitalization of oilfields with the use of disruptive technologies of the future has been the key technological trend in the oil and gas sector for several years now. All the key market players: Lukoil, Gazprom Neft, Rosneft, Zarubezhneft, Bashneft, Novatek, etc. are currently implementing comprehensive strategies for digital business transformation. The headline topic on the business agenda was the cases of control processes digitalization for drilling, capital construction, using “digital twins”, and so on. Separate discussion evolved around import substitution in the area of applied software and the development of integrated solutions using Russian products.

Apart from the main business program, the IT Summit included a number of B2B meetings of the representatives of oil services and oil and gas sector companies. One of the most discussed topics was the experience of using integrated modelling technologies in oil and gas fields. So far, just a few players of the Russian oil and gas market have successful cases of using this technology with a proven economic effect. “Our team is an active participant of the transformation process and organizational change, currently underway in the oil and gas and fuel and energy sectors. We know how to set up these processes to create a whole new business model for the companies wishing to find their place in the new economic reality. All our strategic partners are already going this way, and now they are sharing their results and experience”, noted Aleksandr Krokhalev, ITPS Director for Digital Transformation of Oil and Gas Companies.
