Challenges of the New Decade: ITPS Group of Companies at the International Export Forum “Made in Russia – 2020”

14.12.2020

What will the economy of the "twenties" of the 21st century be like? What challenges and opportunities does it pose for the Russian export market? Are there companies in Russia that are capable of achieving success globally and what is needed to make more companies capable of that? These and many other issues of importance have been discussed on December 9, 2020 at the major national export forum “Made in Russia – 2020”. The offline events were attended by representatives of government, such as: Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Andrei Belousov, ministers and other executives, as well as the leading Russian export companies – nominees and winners of the “Exporter of the Year” award.

In 2020, due to the pandemic, most of the events of the forum organized by the Russian Export Centre were held online, broadcasting to more than 30 countries around the world. However, the key events of the business program – the plenary session “Economy of the Third Decade: Challenges and Opportunities for the Russian Export Market”, an exhibition of the latest developments in the field of high-tech goods and services, the “Exporter of the Year” award ceremony were nevertheless held in the traditional offline format, with due attention to the necessary safety measures.

For the first time in the history of the forum, the agenda was formed by the participants themselves. First of all, they discussed the new opportunities for increasing export potential and specific practical solutions to support exporters during the pandemic. Opening the plenary session, the head of the government recalled that the Russian President Vladimir Putin set the task of achieving real growth in exports of non-primary and non-energy goods by 2030, so that their share would exceed 70% compared to 2020. “The potential of our goods and services in foreign markets is very high, many of them are unparalleled. In the near future, the demand for products such as the coronavirus vaccine may sharply increase, although our plan is to provide it to the citizens of the Russian Federation first off. We are looking forward to see the growth in other sectors, as well, including the IT industry. Today at the exhibition we saw wonderful examples of solutions by the Russian developers,” said Mikhail Mishustin.

Speaking about the new instruments to support exports and international cooperation, which were launched this year, the government authorities noted that in this matter the government is always guided by the position of the business community. “A number of measures within the framework of the international cooperation and export national project have been amended, new opportunities requested by business have been added,” stated Denis Manturov, head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia. He also drew attention to the issue that the Prime Minister discussed with the representatives of ITPS during his tour of the exhibition: entering foreign markets, taking into account the considerable cost of meeting the relevant requirements. According to him the necessary mechanisms will be found eventually.

The capstone of the forum was the ceremony of the All-Russian “Exporter of the Year” award. Congratulating the winners, Mikhail Mishustin stated that this year the competition brought together a record number of participants – more than 1700. The award was introduced by the first Vice-Premier of the Government Andrei Belousov.

“Exporter of the Year” award is definitely a significant and long-awaited event for us. We are sincerely happy to meet the export champions. This award is a high responsibility. In order to achieve our goals, we must produce competitive products that are in demand on the global market. Digital healthcare, predictive risk management, productivity growth in the key sectors of economy and industrial safety are the areas that will be relevant during the next ten years both for Russia, the CIS and foreign countries. Our plan is to actively develop these areas”, said Leonid Tikhomirov, CEO of the ITPS Group of Companies, General Director of IT Professional Solutions (the winner of the “Exporter of the Year” award in the service sector).
