Integration of SAP ERP and the project design documentation control system (PDD CS) within the scope of the project “The Interface of Access to Project Design Documentation in PM Facilities”

In 2013-2014 Parma-Telecom (ITPS) carried out the integration of SAP ERP system and the project design documentation control system (PDD CS) based on the platform OpenText Content Server 10.0 within the scope of the project “The Interface of Access to Project Design Documentation” (hereinafter PDD) in the plant maintenance (hereinafter PM) objects for LUKOIL Mid-East Ltd.

Project Objectives

The project was carried out in several stages:

  1. Design;
  2. Implementation and testing;
  3. Preparation for the commissioning into trial operation and user training;
  4. Trial operation and commissioning into commercial operation.

The consultants of Parma-Telecom (ITPS) had to procure a prompt access to project design documentation in SAP ERP functional locations.

The following tasks were completed in the course of the project:

  1. Development of a WEB-service for connecting PDD CS and SAP PI/XI;
  2. Development of interfaces for the transfer of up-to-date electronic links to project design documentation to the functional locations;
  3. Development of an additional tab in functional locations for maintaining structured references to project design documentation;
  4. Mapping of documentation in PDD CS and functional locations in SAP ERP, which served as the basis for performing automated tag download (functional location codes) in PDD;
  5. Electronic links to PM objects downloaded using the developed data transfer interfaces.

Result

Some 425 documents in the form of electronic links to 13,021 Functional Locations were downloaded into the PM objects (Functional locations) SAP ERP system.

Owing to the described works aimed at the provision of access at PM objects to project design documentation, LUKOIL Mid-East Ltd. users were provided prompt access to up-to-date documentation and managed to reduce the time for finding project design documents required for the operation of production equipment.
