Russian Benchmark for the oilfield services market. Tatburneft becomes first in the 1C: Project of the Year contest

14.10.2020

The results of one of the major contests in the IT industry ‘1C: Project of the Year 2019’ in which 158 projects from various industries took part, have been announced. The best users and partners, with the most striking results in the field of digitalization based on 1C software products, are defined within the framework of the contest which takes place annually. Victory in the nomination «The best project of the industry (in the fuel and energy complex)” was given to the oilfield service company Tatburneft Asset Management Company LLC (part of the TAGRAS Holding), which presented the results of the “Digital Transformation and Management System Development Program” implemented together with ITPS.

The main purpose of the Digital Transformation Program at Tatburneft was to make the enterprise as adaptable to the requirements of customers as possible, increasing its manageability and competitiveness. Today, in light of the economic instability and the COVID-19 situation, the Tatburneft management is confident that the decision on digital transformation came not a moment too soon. Thanks to the integration of production, supporting and management processes, the company was able to quickly restructure budgets and production plans in accordance with the changing economic conditions. Taking into account the decreased demand for drilling from oil and gas companies, Tatburneft was able to align the plan by expanding its client base and flexible reallocation of work and resources.

The uniqueness of the implemented program lies in the fact that for the first time in the history of the Russian oilfield services industry, the company completely changed its management principles. It developed a target model with a clear description of interrelated processes, switched the work of structural departments and employees – from a drilling foreman to the general manager – to digital principles. The unprecedented project was implemented on the basis of methods developed together with the ITPS experts and consultants, and based on the 1C software products. The successful experience of the drillers is highly appreciated in the holding, and a comprehensive approach to digitalization of management and production is being actively implemented by other divisions.

“There is a common saying in our industry: the oil is at the tip of the drill bit. Simply put, the drillers are the first to come to the field, the first to touch the oil-bearing deposits. We became pioneers in the digital transformation of business, too. We realized the need for change, prepared a roadmap and started moving in the direction that seemed right. Our victory in the 1C contest is a proof of the fact that the direction was correct. It is crucial for us to get recognition outside the industry, in the broader IT segment, where the competition is particularly strong. We are grateful to the organizing committee of the contest for acknowledgement of the results of our work. This is also a great achievement of the ITPS Group of Companies. With its help, using the competencies unique to Russia, we were able to implement a systematic approach and solve the problems for which there are no standard solutions developed yet. We go on this journey together, share best practices and help each other to grow in technology and methodology,” stated the director of Tatburneft Albert Iskhakov.

“An integrated approach to digital transformation of an enterprise is the only answer to the current market challenges and economic turbulence of today. I am confident that many industrial enterprises would like to follow the example of Tatburneft in order to obtain the desired business effects. The hardest part is getting started. While there is no clear understanding of the current production picture and the target process model, the enterprise can only deal with minor improvements, becoming less and less effective every year. Companies thinking about the future must gradually get rid of disparate -and often outdated - solutions, update their approaches to production management, and, if possible, reduce import dependence. I would like to point out, that 1C software products are often the best choice for enterprises. There are not many companies on the market whose products can be used to build a comprehensive IT environment and solve all the tasks of a modern enterprise. According to the Tatburneft experience, there is no need to be afraid of changes. They become helpful if approached thoroughly and comprehensively,” emphasized CEO of the ITPS Group of Companies, Leonid Tikhomirov.
